About Us

Yellow Creek Veterinary Surgery and Imaging has been offering outstanding animal care in Akron, Ohio since 2000. We care for dogs and cats and offer a wide range of services for pets of every breed. We offer multiple orthopedic surgeries as well as many soft tissue surgical procedures. Our practice is one of the few in our area to offer CT Scans. If your pet requires a procedure that is not listed on our site, please contact our office and our staff will be happy to provide an estimate for you.

Our Team

Veterinarian

Dr. John Owen

Dr. Owen is from the Akron, Ohio area and graduated from Akron Firestone High School in 1987. After graduating high school, Dr. Owen enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country for 3 years as a combat medic. After an honorable discharge and several medals, he attended Mount Union College for his undergraduate degree. A member of the first National Championship Purple Raider football team in 1993, Dr. Owen received the GE/CoSIDA award as an Academic All American. Dr. Owen is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. When he isn't spending time with his daughter and family, Dr.Owen enjoys hiking and relaxing with his Golden Retriever, Cash.

Office Manager

Nanci

Nanci has worked with Dr. Owen since 2012 and has been in the veterinary field since 2008. She has 4 dogs and 9 cats that keep her busy outside of the office! Nanci also enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and hiking with her dogs in her spare time.

Michelle

Michelle has worked with Dr.Owen since 2012 and travels from the Warren area to be a part of our practice. When she isn't working, Michelle loves spending time with her husband, her son, and her multiple furry children. Michelle is also an avid reader and occasionally judges local cat shows for 4H.

Nick

Nick has been a part of Dr.Owen's team since 2012 and travels here from the Youngstown area. Nick is a local farmer in his area and a show cattle breeder. His cattle can be seen in various shows across the United States. When he isn't busy farming, Nick enjoys hanging out with his son and girlfriend. Although, his son is frequently included during his farming chores! Nick recently began his own maple syrup business!

Kaleigh

Kaleigh has been with our practice since 2021 and has been a wonderful asset to our team. She enjoys hiking and spending time with her dog, Marlo, and her family in her spare time.

Veterinary Technician

Abbi

Abbi joined our team in 2022 and has been a great addition! In her free time, Abbi enjoys riding ATVs, spending time with her family and pets, and gardening.

Hailey

Hailey has several years of veterinary customer service experience and joined our practice in 2022. She is wonderful with our clients and their furry kids! When she isn't enjoying time with her work family at Yellow Creek, she enjoys spending time with her family and her German Shephard, Sophia, and her Golden Retriever, Serena.

Sydney

Sydney joined our practice in 2023 and has several years of customer service experience. In her free time, Sydney enjoys her indoor plants, caring for her aquariums, spending time with her dog, Dudley, and her 3 cats.

Dr. Owen and his team were nothing short of amazing. Our 5 month old kitten Gaara’s femur got broken from a run in with our senior citizen dog. They were so kind, compassionate, and managed to make us laugh at a time we thought our world was falling apart. They were able to get him in the same day we called, and charged us $1500 less than what the emergency vet quoted us. We drove almost an hour, and will continue to do so for ANY surgery or imaging needs. 😊 We are so grateful.
